About NBCG

Utah’s most comprehensive multidisciplinary mental health practice — diagnosis, therapy, psychiatry, and advanced treatments, all under one roof.

Founded in Utah · 2012

Founded in 2012 by Dr. Jennifer Cardinal, a neuropsychologist and mother of five, the Neurobehavioral Center for Growth (NBCG) began with the goal of providing competent, comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for children and families across Utah. We quickly recognized how difficult it was for patients to navigate a fragmented mental health system — getting an evaluation was only the beginning of an often frustrating journey to find the right providers.

We knew Utah families deserved something better: a single, trusted practice where every part of the care journey — from autism evaluation and ADHD testing to therapy, medication management, and advanced treatments like TMS and Spravato — could happen with one coordinated team.

Today, NBCG operates six clinic locations across Utah — Bountiful, South Ogden, Salt Lake City, Layton, Logan, and West Jordan — plus telehealth services statewide. We serve children as young as two, teenagers, and adults, with specialized programs for every stage of life.

“Our vision remains to empower each individual to reach their full potential.”

Whether we’re supporting a mom raising a child with autism spectrum disorder, guiding a family through trauma recovery, helping a teenager manage anxiety or depression, or bringing hope to an adult living with treatment-resistant depression — it is our absolute honor to work with layered, complex, and inspiring people every single day.

Why Choose NBCG

What makes NBCG different from other Utah mental health providers?

We’re one of the only practices in Utah where diagnostics, therapy, psychiatry, and advanced treatments are all available under one roof — with a team that actively collaborates on your care.

🔬

Diagnosis-first approach

Unlike practices that go straight to treatment, NBCG offers comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological testing to ensure your diagnosis is accurate before building your care plan. This means fewer wasted appointments and faster, more effective results.

🤝

Truly multidisciplinary — one team, one roof

Your psychologist, therapist, and psychiatrist actually talk to each other. At NBCG, your care team collaborates internally so nothing falls through the cracks — no repeated intake forms, no contradictory treatment plans, no referral runaround.

Advanced treatments other practices don’t offer

NBCG is one of very few Utah mental health practices offering TMS therapy, Spravato (esketamine), and ketamine for treatment-resistant depression alongside traditional therapy and psychiatry — all under the same roof.

📍

6 Utah clinics + telehealth statewide

We accept SelectHealth, BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Tricare, Regence, PEHP, Molina, and many others. Our intake team verifies your benefits before your first appointment so you know exactly what to expect.

👨‍👩‍👧

Family-centered care from day one

We don’t just treat the patient — we support the whole family. From parent training sessions and school advocacy letters to sibling support and caregiver education, NBCG provides the tools your whole household needs to thrive.

Meet Our Founder

Built on a legacy of clinical excellence — and unwavering heart.

NBCG was founded by Dr. Jennifer Cardinal, PhD, a nationally respected neuropsychologist whose early clinical work focused on complex neurodevelopmental diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disorders, and fetal alcohol spectrum disorder in children and adolescents across Utah. Her reputation for precision in differential diagnosis — and her compassionate approach to patients and families — shaped NBCG’s core philosophy.

“Every patient deserves clarity, empathy, and a truly individualized approach.”

A neuropsychologist and mother of five, Jennifer built NBCG out of an unwavering passion to help others access the kind of comprehensive, coordinated care that was previously out of reach for most Utah families. Today, her vision guides a team of over 50 licensed clinicians across six Utah locations.

That same philosophy drives our full continuum of care — from psychological testing and neuropsychological evaluations to psychiatry, therapy, ABA, and advanced treatments like TMS and Spravato — serving children, teens, and adults across Salt Lake City, Davis County, Weber County, Cache County, and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know before your first appointment.

Answers about our services, insurance, locations, and what makes NBCG different from other mental health providers in Utah.

Who does NBCG serve?
NBCG serves children (ages 2+), teenagers, and adults across Utah. We provide psychological and neuropsychological testing, therapy, psychiatry, ABA therapy, speech therapy, and advanced treatments including TMS, Spravato, and ketamine. Whether your child needs an autism evaluation, your teen needs therapy for anxiety, or you’re an adult seeking treatment for depression or ADHD — NBCG has a licensed provider for you.
What is neuropsychological testing and do I need it?
Neuropsychological testing is a comprehensive evaluation that assesses how your brain functions across areas like attention, memory, language, processing speed, and executive functioning. At NBCG, we use testing to diagnose conditions like autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, dyslexia, traumatic brain injury, and cognitive decline. Testing is ideal if you or your child has struggled in school, received inconsistent diagnoses, or needs an evaluation for services, accommodations, or treatment planning. No referral is required.
How do I get an autism evaluation for my child in Utah?
NBCG provides comprehensive autism spectrum disorder (ASD) evaluations for children and adolescents across Utah. Our evaluations include clinical interview, behavioral observation, standardized testing, parent and teacher questionnaires, and a full written report with diagnosis and recommendations. Most major Utah insurance plans cover autism evaluations. To get started, request an appointment online or call 385-452-8566 — no referral is required.
Do you do ADHD testing for children and adults in Utah?
Yes. NBCG provides ADHD evaluations for children, teenagers, and adults at all six of our Utah clinic locations and via telehealth. Our ADHD testing includes a clinical interview, rating scales, cognitive assessments, and a detailed report. We also offer comprehensive ADHD treatment including therapy, medication management, and executive functioning coaching. If you’ve been struggling with focus, organization, or impulsivity and want an accurate diagnosis, contact us to schedule an evaluation.
What is TMS therapy and is it covered by insurance in Utah?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive therapy that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain associated with depression, OCD, and anxiety. It is typically recommended for patients who have not responded adequately to antidepressant medications. TMS is covered by most major Utah insurance plans including SelectHealth, BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, and Cigna. NBCG is one of the few Utah mental health practices offering TMS alongside psychiatry and therapy under the same roof.
What is Spravato (esketamine) and who is it for?
Spravato is an FDA-approved nasal spray containing esketamine (a form of ketamine) for adults with treatment-resistant depression or major depressive disorder with suicidal ideation. It is administered in a certified clinical setting and monitored by medical staff. NBCG is a REMS-certified Spravato provider in Utah. Spravato is often used alongside an oral antidepressant and can produce rapid symptom relief in patients who haven’t responded to other treatments.
Where are your clinics located in Utah?
NBCG has six clinic locations across Utah: Bountiful (Davis County), South Ogden (Weber County), Salt Lake City (Salt Lake County), Layton (Davis County), Logan (Cache County), and West Jordan (Salt Lake County). We also offer telehealth services statewide for therapy, medication management, and psychiatric follow-up. Advanced treatments like TMS, Spravato, and ketamine are delivered in-clinic.
What insurance does NBCG accept?
NBCG is in-network with most major Utah insurance plans including SelectHealth, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Tricare, Triwest, Regence, Meritain Health, Samera Health, PEHP, Molina Healthcare, GEHA, Vitori, and EMI Health, among others. Our front-office team verifies your benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises. Call 385-452-8566 or request an appointment online to get started.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Many NBCG services offer same-week or next-day appointments at our six Utah clinic locations. Availability varies by service and provider. The fastest way to secure a time is to request an appointment online or call 385-452-8566. No referral is needed to become a new patient.
Do I need a referral to see a provider at NBCG?
No referral is required. You can request an appointment directly through our website or by calling 385-452-8566. Our intake team will match you with the right provider for your needs — whether that’s a psychologist for testing, a therapist for counseling, a psychiatrist for medication, or a BCBA for ABA therapy.
What makes NBCG different from other Utah mental health providers?
NBCG is one of the only practices in Utah where psychological testing, neuropsychological evaluation, therapy, psychiatry, ABA therapy, speech therapy, and advanced treatments like TMS and Spravato all happen under one roof — with a team that collaborates on your care. Unlike single-specialty clinics, NBCG offers a full continuum of care for children, teens, and adults, with six conveniently located Utah clinics plus telehealth statewide. We’re in-network with major insurers, offer same-week appointments, and never require a referral.
Does NBCG offer telehealth in Utah?
Yes. NBCG offers telehealth therapy, psychiatric medication management, and follow-up appointments statewide across Utah via secure video platform. Telehealth is available for both new and existing patients. Advanced in-person treatments like TMS, Spravato, and ketamine therapy must be delivered at one of our six clinic locations.
