Expert Care for Treatment-Resistant Depression
Advanced, focused support when standard treatments haven't worked.
What is Treatment-Resistant Depression?
Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) refers to a form of major depressive disorder that doesn't improve after trying at least two different antidepressant medications at adequate doses and durations.
People with TRD experience persistent symptoms — such as low mood, lack of pleasure, fatigue, and difficulty functioning — even after multiple treatment attempts. It may also be associated with more severe or chronic symptoms.
Advanced Depression Services
Sometimes traditional therapies and medication aren't enough. If that sounds like you, our advanced depression services may be the next step.
TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)
TMS is a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate brain areas involved in mood regulation — often used for depression when other treatments haven't worked.
Learn More →Spravato (Esketamine)
Spravato is a fast-acting nasal spray derived from ketamine. It works differently from traditional antidepressants by targeting the glutamate system in the brain, helping to restore neural connections involved in mood regulation. Administered in a certified clinic by highly trained medical staff.
Learn More →Ketamine
Ketamine is a fast-acting medication used off-label for depression — especially treatment-resistant depression and acute suicidal thoughts. It targets the glutamate system to quickly improve mood and strengthen brain connections. Administered by our psychiatric providers via intramuscular injection or intranasal spray.
Learn More →Psychiatric Medication Management
Ongoing support from a medical provider to monitor medications and help manage mental health symptoms — including augmentation strategies and combination approaches that go beyond what's been tried before.

Indications for Treatment
The providers at Neurobehavioral Center for Growth (NBCG) offer medication management for a range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Bipolar Disorder. Medications are prescribed based on individual assessments and in conjunction with other therapeutic interventions as needed.
Important Safety Information
Psychiatric medications are only available by prescription and should be taken as directed by a healthcare provider. A provider at NBCG can help determine if medication is right for you. Patients' responses to medications may vary, and ongoing monitoring is necessary to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, changes in appetite, or mood fluctuations. Some medications carry risks such as dependency, withdrawal symptoms, or rare but serious adverse effects. It is important to discuss all potential risks and benefits with your provider.
Medications for mental health conditions should not be discontinued without consulting a healthcare provider. If you experience severe side effects, worsening symptoms, or thoughts of self-harm, seek immediate medical attention.
