Online Mental Health Care in Utah

Telehealth therapy & psychiatry that comes to you.

Whether you live in Salt Lake City, rural southern Utah, or anywhere in between — NBCG's licensed providers are available via secure video telehealth. No commute. No waiting room. Just real care.

Telehealth — also called online therapy, virtual therapy, or teletherapy — allows you to meet with a licensed mental health provider over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video connection. You join from a smartphone, tablet, or computer, and your session feels just like an in-person appointment.

At NBCG, telehealth is available for two of our most in-demand services: mental health therapy and psychiatric medication management. We've seen firsthand how removing the barrier of travel opens up access to care for patients across Utah — from busy parents in the Salt Lake Valley to adults in rural communities who previously had no local mental health options.

"Our goal is to meet every patient where they are — literally."

Telehealth is appropriate for many conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and PTSD. A substantial body of clinical research shows it is equally effective as in-person care for most outpatient therapy and medication management needs.

Not sure if telehealth is right for you? Our intake team can help during a free pre-appointment call. Call (801) 683-1062 or request an appointment online.

Is Telehealth Right for You?

Online therapy and psychiatry may be ideal for you if…

🏠

You live far from a clinic

NBCG telehealth reaches every corner of Utah — Logan, St. George, Moab, Vernal, Price, and beyond. If there's no local provider near you, we're here.

Your schedule is demanding

Parents, professionals, students, and caregivers often find that eliminating the commute makes consistent care actually possible for the first time.

🔒

You value privacy

Telehealth lets you receive care without bumping into neighbors in a waiting room. Your session is always encrypted and HIPAA-compliant.

🤒

Health or mobility limits travel

Chronic illness, disability, postpartum recovery, or temporary illness — telehealth keeps your care continuous when in-person visits aren't feasible.

🌱

You're new to therapy

Many patients find it easier to open up from a familiar environment. Starting therapy at home can lower the anxiety barrier to seeking help for the first time.

💊

You need medication management

Routine psychiatric check-ins and medication refills don't always require in-person visits. Our PMHNPs can manage most psychiatric medications via telehealth.

Telehealth Insurance Coverage

Most major Utah insurance plans cover telehealth mental health visits.

Since 2020, Utah insurance law requires most major payers to cover telehealth services at the same rate as in-person visits. NBCG verifies your benefits before your first session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about telehealth at NBCG.

Does NBCG offer telehealth therapy in Utah?
Yes. NBCG offers telehealth therapy statewide across Utah via secure HIPAA-compliant video. You can meet with a licensed therapist, psychologist, or counselor from your home, office, or anywhere you have a private internet connection. Telehealth therapy is available for new patients and existing patients at most NBCG clinic locations.
Does NBCG offer online psychiatric medication management?
Yes. NBCG's psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) and psychiatrists provide telehealth appointments for new patient psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing follow-up care. Please note that prescriptions for certain controlled substances may require at least one in-person visit under applicable Utah and federal law. Our intake team will advise you during scheduling.
Is telehealth therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Yes — a substantial body of clinical research shows that telehealth therapy is equally effective as in-person therapy for most conditions including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and general counseling. Many patients actually prefer telehealth because they feel more relaxed and open in a familiar environment. For some patients and certain types of therapy, in-person sessions may be recommended. Our intake team can help you decide.
Is telehealth covered by insurance in Utah?
Yes. Most major Utah insurance plans — including SelectHealth, BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Tricare, Regence, and PEHP — cover telehealth mental health visits. Utah law requires parity between in-person and telehealth mental health coverage for most plans. NBCG's intake team verifies your telehealth benefits before your first session so there are no unexpected charges.
What do I need for a telehealth session?
You'll need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, and a reliable internet connection. We recommend a private, quiet space where you feel comfortable speaking openly. No app downloads are required — just click the secure link we send you before your appointment. NBCG's telehealth platform is fully HIPAA-compliant and encrypted.
Where in Utah does NBCG offer telehealth?
NBCG's telehealth services are available to anyone physically located in Utah at the time of their session. This includes Salt Lake City, Provo, Orem, Ogden, Layton, Logan, St. George, Cedar City, Park City, Moab, Vernal, and rural communities across the state. You do not need to live near one of our six physical clinic locations to receive telehealth services.
How quickly can I get a telehealth appointment?
Many NBCG telehealth patients are seen within the same week they reach out — and often within a few days. Call us at (801) 683-1062 or request an appointment online to see current availability. No referral is required.
Can I switch between telehealth and in-person visits?
Absolutely. Many NBCG patients combine telehealth and in-person visits based on their schedule and clinical needs. Your provider and care plan remain the same — you simply choose the format that works best for each session. If you ever want to add in-person services such as TMS, Spravato, or neuropsychological testing, we can coordinate that seamlessly at one of our six Utah clinic locations.
