Mental & Behavioral Health FAQs:

Do you provide psychological assessments?

Yes, NBCG’s licensed psychologists provide both psychological and neuropsychological assessments to help clarify patients’ clinical presentation.

What is neuropsychological testing?

Neuropsychological testing is formal testing that includes assessment of brain functioning and can identify conditions that are often misdiagnosed, like ADHD, and help diagnose psychological conditions like autism, learning disabilities, or psychosis.

Do you work with school teams?

We work collaboratively with parents and school teams to help advocate for children who need specialized interventions by providing assessments and then consultation focused on clinical symptoms (learning disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders)  that can impact academic progress.

Do I have to be tested or can I go straight to treatment?

No—you can set up applicable treatment for therapy or medication management where your provider will conduct a “real time” mental health or psychiatric interview that in itself is an assessment to identify symptoms and treatment needs.  Intakes with our psychologists are requested when there is not a clear mental or behavioral health presentation and differential diagnosis is needed.

Do you work with my primary care physicians or a child’s pediatrician?

Yes—we value our community partners and appreciate helping to clarify mental or developmental disorders and in providing therapy. Our behavioral health (psychiatric care) is for patients that need specialized care and not meant to replace pediatrician’s care.

Does NBCG provide mental health therapy?

Yes—NBCG’s team of highly trained licensed therapists provide high-quality, compassionate services including individual and group therapy targeted to depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, trauma, and executive functioning deficits. We also provide consultation and parent training.

Does NBCG provide speech therapy?
